ICTGAM301 – APPLY SIMPLE MODELLING TECHNIQUES

The task for this competency was to make a 3D model for an application or game.

The work requirements for this is to have a program to do the modelling with and then knowing what it is you are going to model.

some of the model design techniques are that you start from simple objects and then proceed to refine the polygons and edit the vertices and edges to make a more complex shape.

The decided design was a van that was going to be used for a car game.

in which i started with a rectangle and divided it into sections and then manipulating the sections to shape the car. this then leads to cutting out the holes for the wheels and then rounding all edges of the model.

the geometry of the model represents a semi real shape of a van with the back end almost being the same as a rectangle and the front of the van dipping down to a blunt flat front.

The issues i encountered in this model creation is that I did not know how to cut out the holes for the wheels and when rounding the edges there was some clipping between sections which was easily fixed by manipulating them not to overlap.

The scale of the model was an undecided number as it was going to be re scaled when put into unity to the desired size.

Basic copyright issues associated with designing 3D models is that you cannot use other peoples work for monetary uses without permission from the creator.
